A man who had attended a screening of “Straight Outta Compton” was stabbed outside an Orange, Calif., movie theater on Monday.
A spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department told TheWrap on Tuesday that the victim, a man in his mid-20s, was stabbed twice in the chest in the parking lot at about 9:35 p.m., then fled seven blocks west to a gas station where a witness called 911.
CBS reported that the victim became involved in an altercation during a screening of the N.W.A biopic before being attacked outside the theater. However, authorities could not confirm the crime had any connection to the Universal release, which has dominated the box office for two weeks in a row.
The victim, who has not been identified, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anaheim PD did not offer any other details about the investigation.
