Audiences should have no problem swallowing Margot Robbie as troubled figure skater Tonya Harding in the upcoming biopic “I, Tonya.”
NBC’s “Today” show got its hands on the first set photos featuring the actress in makeup as the former Olympian, who was banned from the sport for life after an investigation found she was involved in the attack on rival skater Nancy Kerrigan. The movie will cover the drama of Harding’s life leading up to the attack on Kerrigan, carried out by a hitman hired by Harding’s ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly.
Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: Winter Soldier”) will play Gillooly, while Allison Janney (“Mom”) will play the figure skater’s mother.
Craig Gillespie (“The Finest Hours”) is directing the film Robbie is producing with her husband Tom Ackerly through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
