You know that t-shirt beef between Marilyn Manson and Justin Bieber? Well, according to texts the ghoulish-looking rocker shared with Howard Stern on Tuesday, it was never a beef at all.

Speaking on Stern’s SiriusXM show, Manson said Bieber got in touch with him after he said publicly that Bieber was “kind of an asshole” for claiming to make him “relevant again” because the Biebs was photographed wearing a Manson t-shirt.

According to Stern on Tuesday, who read from Manson’s phone, the “Sorry” crooner texted “The Beautiful People” rocker to address his gripe: “Bro, it’s Bieber. What’s up with that article? I thought we had a pretty pleasant interaction. Also, if anything wasn’t squared away with the T-shirts I’m so sorry.”

Bieber added (according to Stern’s reading): “Anyway, regardless, it kind of stung seeing that if I came off as an asshole or was just an asshole I’m sorry.”

Manson clarified: He wasn’t irked over the t-shirt itself, but rather Bieber’s claim that he made the rocker “relevant again.” “It was just a cocky little thing to say,” Manson told Stern.

Manson said he responded to Biebs: “We are cool. People just made that shirt stuff into a fake feud. Let’s turn it upside-down and f— the press and do something together. It will be the best. And don’t apologize, you weren’t an asshole. They asked if you were and I sort of agreed. I wasn’t out to get you.”

Manson also said he promised Bieber not to “shit talk” about him on Stern’s show, to which Bieber allegedly replied: “Well thanks, LOL.”
