Actor and comedian Mario Cantone has been cast as White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci on Comedy Central’s “The President Show.”

The comedian, a loud and beloved regular on HBO’s “Sex and the City,” makes his debut as new Washington power player Scaramucci (aka “Mooch”) this Thursday, the network said. “The President Show” is hosted by Anthony Atamanuik in character as Donald Trump. The series  got an additional order of seven episodes this week.

Cantone is also involved in conversations with “Saturday Night Live” to play Scaramucci, an individual familiar with the talks told TheWrap, though insiders wonder if the newly-minted White House staffer will still be in place by the time “SNL” returns in November, the individual said.

Reps for Cantone and “SNL” did not respond to requests for comment.

“The President Show” imagines Trump “bypassing the crooked media by hosting a late-night show direct from the Oval Office. No unfair questions from reporters, no awkward photo ops with German ladies, and no bedtimes.”

“Happy Endings” alum Adam Pally produces through his Clone Wolf Productions with executive producers Atamanuik, Peter Grosz, Jason Ross. 3 Arts Entertainment’s Olivia Gerke, Josh Lieberman and Greg Walter are also executive producers.

“The President Show” airs at 11:30pm on Comedy Central. Cantone is repped by Rachel Sheedy’s Insurge-Ent.
