Martial-Arts Drama ‘Wu Assassins’ Picked up by Netflix

Series stars Iko Uwais an aspiring chef who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin

Netflix has ordered its first martial arts drama “Wu Assassins” starring martial arts expert Iso Uwais.

The series, which Netflix described “an action-packed crime drama set In San Francisco’s Chinatown,” was picked up for 10 episodes.

“Wu Assassins” stars martial artist and fight choreographer Uwais as Kai Jin, an aspiring chef who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. In addition to starring, Uwais will serve as lead martial arts choreographer and stunt coordinator.

Byron Mann, who play Uncle Six, is the only other castmember announced so far. Stephen Fung will direct the first two episodes.

The series is produced by Nomadic Pictures Entertainment and will be written and executive produced by “Hell on Wheels” showrunner John Wirth. Chad Oakes, Mike Frislev (“Fargo,” “Hell on Wheels”), and Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures.
