ABC’s newest Marvel series “Agent Carter” has added its first female cast member after Hayley Atwell, the company announced via its website.

“Nikita” alum Lyndsy Fonseca has joined the show to play Angie Martinelli, an aspiring actress who befriends Atwell’s titular Peggy Carter.

The rest of the cast includes Shea Whigham as “tough but fair-minded” SSR Chief Roger Dooley, who oversees Agents Carter (Atwell), Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj). Meanwhile, Dominic Cooper will reprise his role as Howard Stark, the founder of the agency that would later become SHIELD and eventual father to Tony Stark, aka Iron Man.

“Agent Carter” takes place in 1946, with Peggy Carter picking up the pieces of her life after having lost Steve Rogers in World War II, a plot that played out in the movie “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

It’s set for a midseason premiere, but Atwell has already reprised her character on the small screen, appearing in flashback on Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” for the show’s Season 2 premiere.

Fonseca is probably best known for her role as Alex on The CW’s “Nikita” and as the future daughter of Ted Mosby on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother.” She is also on board for Amazon’s comedy pilot “Down Dog.”
