So you think you can dance? Mary Murphy will be the judge of that — again.
The “So You Think You Can Dance” alum is returning as a judge on Fox’s summer competition this year, taking back over for her own replacement, Paula Abdul. The “Forever Your Girl” singer and former Los Angeles Lakers dancer is heading out on tour.
“I am thrilled that Mary will return to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and I’m sure the fans will be, as well. She brings an energy and enthusiasm that’s contagious and I can’t wait for her to join me on the judging panel. I’ve got a pair of earplugs ready, and another for our third resident judge, as well,” said Nigel Lythgoe, who is a judge, co-creator and executive producer on the series.
Murphy has been in a “SYTYCD” judge’s chair for most of the show’s 14 seasons — but not the last two. The upcoming run will also feature returning host Cat Deeley and judge Lythgoe, as well as another judge to be named at a later date. In theory, Jason Derulo could come back for that spot, although Fox isn’t saying anything more about it right now.
This season, dancers between the ages of 18-30 will showcase their talents in various dance styles, including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation, breaking and more.
“SYTYCD” is from 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions. In addition to Lythgoe, the series is executive-produced by its Allen Shapiro, Barry Adelman and Jeff Thacker.
