Mary Tyler Moore Is Trending: Don’t Worry, It’s Not That

But Twitter sure was worried

If you checked the Twitter trends today, one may have jumped out as particularly worrisome: Mary Tyler Moore.

But don’t worry, despite what horrors 2016 has forced us to assume about our remaining national treasures, this one is perfectly fine. As a matter of fact, today is a happy day: the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” star has turned 80.

Still, her name’s mere appearance made for some nervous initial clicking by programmed social media users. Below is a sample of their giant sighs of relief; here’s to many more years of our beloved Mary.

This year alone, we’ve lost Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher, George Michael, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Alan Thicke, Florence Henderson, David Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, Glenn Frey, Abe Vigoda, Harper Lee, George Kennedy, Garry Shandling, Doris Roberts, Muhammad Ali, Garry Marshall and Gene Wilder, to single out just a few.

The gallery below includes even more wonderful people we’ve had to say goodbye to over these crummy 12 months.
