Fox has released a new promo for the second season of “The Masked Singer,” revealing the name of that green, furry contestant they’ve featured in a few previous videos. And what they’re calling this thing is really something — literally.
The label for that particular costumed celebrity appearing on Season 2 of the smash-hit singing competition is Thingamajig. OK, so, it looks like a Thingamajig, right? Honestly, what else would you call it? Truly, once we found out one contestant is called Egg, all bets were off for the upcoming second season of this oddball series.
Watch the video above, which features performances by Thingamajig and Butterfly — and the return of Egg.
First-look teasers for the costumes of 14 of the 16 contestants who will compete on Season 2 have already been revealed by the network, including Panda, Butterfly, Egg, Leopard, Flamingo, Skeleton, Fox, Eagle, Ice Cream, Tree and Rottweiler, with the latter three being unveiled in a clip exclusive to TheWrap earlier this month. That video also featured the debut of Masked Singers that appear to be a spider and a rose — though Fox is still holding back the names of those particular contestants — and what we now know to be Thingamajig.
According to Fox, “collectively, all of the Season 2 undercover celebrities have amassed 69 Emmy Award nominations, 42 Grammy Award nominations, 22 Broadway shows, three New York Times Best Sellers and two have been named Time magazine’s Most Influential People.”
“The Masked Singer” Season 2 debuts with a special two-hour premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on Fox.
