Here are just a few things that happen in the new red-band trailer for “The Beach Bum”: Matthew McConaughey steps out of a jacuzzi in a very revealing thong, an old man with glaucoma in both his eyes flies a plane while smoking the biggest joint you’ve ever seen, and Martin Lawrence feeds cocaine to a parrot.
That all sounds about right for a Harmony Korine movie, who is directing McConaughey in his follow-up to “Spring Breakers.” In the film, McConaughey plays a novelist and a rebellious stoner named Moondog who, after going on a particularly bad bender, finds himself arrested and forced to reform.
Oh, and he also promises to host a gang bang as soon as he finishes writing that Great American Novel. He’ll invite your mother, too.
“One day I will swallow up the world, and when I do I hope you all perish silently,” Moondog says in the trailer as part of an epic poem.
Isla Fisher, Zac Efron, Jonah Hill, Snoop Dogg, Lawrence and Jimmy Buffett (they spelled his name correctly this time!) star in the subversive, sun-soaked art house movie from Neon and Vice Studios.
“The Beach Bum” opens on March 22 before making its premiere at the SXSW film festival. Watch the red-band, NSFW trailer above.
