Nothing says comedy quite like a rap about cheddar chesse.
In the pilot for ABC’s sitcom “The Mayor,” star Brandon Micheal Hall and former “Hamilton” star Daveed Diggs performed just such a freestyle — which you can see in an exclusive behind-the-scenes video that includes words from co-stars Yvette Nicole Brown, Marcel Spears and Bernard David Jones.
The series follows Hall’s rapper Courtney Rose, who gets elected mayor in a surprise victory. Before he actually cared about doing the job well, he skipped out on a community cleanup event he organized to perform on stage with Daveed Diggs’ Mac Etcetera.
Not the best way to kick off his term in office — he ended up having to clean up the city commons all by himself after the community event got shut down by police because he wasn’t there.
