The hosts of MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” unpacked the state of President Trump’s approval ratings across the country, succinctly remarking that the general perception of the commander-in-chief is “real bad” right now.

“A new projection shows President Trump’s net approval rating is negative in 47 out of 50 states,” host Mika Brzezinski said Monday, citing new data released by The Economist and YouGov. “The data shows widespread dissatisfaction with Trump, even in places that voted for him in 2024.”

“Ahead of the midterms, Trump has a negative net approval rating in all of the states where there are competitive Senate races this year,” she continued. “In Georgia, Trump’s net approval is -31. In North Carolina, it’s -25. In Maine, Trump’s net approval is -31. In Texas, it is -22. And in Michigan, Trump’s net approval is -27.”

“It almost feels like Trump and his administration is going in one direction, and the will of the American people, the needs of the American people, the needs of our alliances around the world, they’re headed in a completely different direction,” Brzezinski concluded. Fellow panelist Jonathan Lemire then echoed her sentiments, adding, “My expert analysis on that polling is: It’s real bad.”

He went on to list the issues and controversies that have become major points of contention among the American people throughout Trump’s second term, including his ongoing war with Iran.

“None of this is working for the president right now,” Lemire said. “That’s why we have Republicans really worried about this November. Many privately concede the House all but gone. The Senate feels like a true toss-up when, a year ago at this time, we would have said Republicans were heavily favored to keep at least the upper chamber.”

“The tariffs have been unpopular and now we’re in a renewed trade war with Canada. The Iran War? Deeply unpopular, never sold by the president to the American people,” the “Morning Joe” co-host further stated. “All it has done is send prices soaring, particularly at the gas pump.”

While Lemire noted that the Trump administration seems to have settled on a strategy of “economic pressure” on Iran that could work, he explained, “Even if [that] does work, it’s probably going to be a long time — too late to save Republicans, perhaps, for this [year’s] midterms.”

President Trump issued a seemingly related statement on Truth Social later on Monday morning. “The Radical Left Democrats are going CRAZY with Fake Polls. They’re putting them out at levels never seen before. They’re called, ‘Demoralization Operations,’ where they try to demoralize Republicans so that they don’t go out and vote,” he wrote. “But the actual Polls are tremendous, and the Spirit in our Country has never been higher. We’re winning against EVERYONE, including Iran, whose Country is in Economic and Military Death Spiral.”
