Melanie Griffith Cast on ‘Hawaii Five-0’ After Screenplay Rant

Melanie Griffith will play the mother of Danny "Danno" Williams … and the script had better be up to par

Griffith, who made headlines on Tuesday with a foul-mouth lament about the quality of contemporary screenplays, has landed a guest-spot on the CBS drama "Hawaii Five-0."

The 56-year-old actress has been cast as the mother of Danny "Danno" Williams, played by Scott Caan on the series, CBS Television Studios revealed via its Twitter account on Tuesday.

Griffith recently raised a few eyebrows when she complained in a Fox News interview about Hollywood screenplays, grousing, "In this day and age … most of the scripts are so sh–ty and stupid and superficial."

"Hawaii Five-0" writers, take note: Hold off on the sh—-ness, stupidity and superficiality where Ms. Griffith's script is concerned.

The series has also cast Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers on the upcoming fourth season, as a hacker who gets involved in a case that the team is investigating.

"Hawaii Five-0" premieres its fourth season on Sept. 27.
