Melissa McCarthy Puts Her Parents on the Spot as ‘Kimmel’ Guest Host (Video)

Good old-fashioned mid-western trivia game proves these two don’t know their daughter at all

There’s nothing quite like the love of a mother and a father. You know, unless you’re Melissa McCarthy’s parents and you don’t know your daughter AT ALL.

OK, that’s a bit harsh: Mike and Sandy McCarthy seem like lovely midwestern people. That said, the couple pretty much failed a rousing few rounds of “Who Loves Their Daughter More?” on Thursday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

For starters, both were a bit slow to answer the layup question, “What was my character’s name on ‘Mike & Molly’?” Yikes.

Next, no one knew Melissa’s blood type, nor could either of the contestants name even one of her high school friends. Perhaps the “Heat” star was somewhat less popular back then.

Jimmy Kimmel’s ABC late-night show has gone with guest hosts all week as his son Billy underwent heart surgery. Wednesday’s fill-in, Neil Patrick Harris, reported to the studio audience that the procedure was a success.
