Mel’s ‘Beaver’ Moves Again: Limited Debut Now Set for May 6

Once again, Summit Entertainment moves back the release date for Jodie Foster’s oft-delayed film featuring controversial star

Summit announced Monday that it's once again moving back the release date for its upcoming Mel Gibson comedy "The Beaver," shifting its limited bow to May 6 from March 23.

The film is now scheduled to go wide on May 20.

The Jodie Foster-directed film stars Gibson as a depressed executive who finds solace while communicating through a beaver hand-puppet.

With Gibson facing myriad personal issues over the last year, the film has been completed — and on the shelf — for some time.

Summit did not offer up its reasons for the date switch.
