Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth will serve as executive producers on “Candyman,” “The Addams Family,” “Legally Blonde 3” and others
MGM and BRON Creative have entered into a $100 million+, multi-picture co-financing deal on MGM’s upcoming slate of films, the companies jointly announced Thursday.
BRON Creative is a joint venture between Aaron L. Gilbert’s BRON Studios and Jason Cloth’s Creative Wealth Media, and both Gilbert and Cloth will serve as executive producers on MGM’s upcoming movies, including the animated “The Addams Family,” “Legally Blonde 3,” Jordan Peele’s “Candyman,” the Aretha Franklin biopic “Respect,” “The Thomas Crown Affair” with Michael B. Jordan and “Robocop Returns” from director Neill Blomkamp.
They’ll also serve as executive producers on Orion Pictures’ “Child’s PLay,” “Bad Trip” and “Gretel and Hansel.” This is the first deal between BRON and MGM.
“We are excited to partner with MGM on this highly anticipated slate of films, all driven by talented filmmakers. This is another important step forward in BRON’s growth model,” Gilbert and Cloth said in a joint statement.
“This multi-picture deal builds upon the growing strength of our film business with a strategic investment for the future. Building on our incredibly robust library of titles is the cornerstone of the studio’s ongoing effort to be the leading independent producer of content in our industry. We look forward to partnering with BRON on this incredible slate of movies,” Jonathan Glickman, MGM’s motion picture group president, said in a statement.
BRON creative previously entered into another $100 million co-financing deal with Warner Bros. last year on “The Mule,” “Isn’t It Romantic,” “Joker” and “The Kitchen,” among others. Their upcoming projects also include Sony’s “Greyhound,” written by and starring Tom Hanks, Universal’s “Queen & Slim” from Lena Waithe and directed by Melinda Matsoukas and A24’s “The Green Knight” from director David Lowery.
Jason Cloth and Richard McConnel negotiated the co-financing deal on behalf of Creative Wealth Media, Aaron Gilbert for BRON, supported by Anjay Nagpal and Steven Thibault, and Matthew Erramouspe of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, and MGM’s Sarah Madigan, Ted Lim, Matt Davidson, Scott Sebasty, with Ken Deutsch and Kendall Johnson from Latham & Watkins on behalf of MGM.
