Academy Award winner Mercedes Ruehl makes a special guest appearance on “Life in Pieces” this week.
In an exclusive clip of the episode obtained by TheWrap, Matt (Thomas Sadoski) is terrified at the prospect of meeting his mother-in-law Mia (Ruehl) for the first time.
When Matt and Colleen (Angelique Cabral) invite her over, Mia gifts him with two steer skulls. She also tells him he looks exactly like her first husband. Whether or not that’s a good thing remains to be seen.
Also in this week’s episode, John (James Brolin) starts feeling old, so he attempts to make himself look younger, much to the dismay of his family.
Also, Heather (Betsy Brandt) worries that her daughter’s piano recital will be a disaster; and Jen (Zoe Lister-Jones), Greg (Colin Hanks) and Lark attend an over-the-top birthday party full of overachieving parents who make them panic about getting Lark into a good preschool.
The new episode of “Life in Pieces” airs tonight at 8:30 p.m./7:30c on CBS.
