Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton has named his former AOL colleague Philip Rowley as the movie studio’s chief financial officer, he announced Tuesday.

Rowley, who held several high-ranking positions at AOL Europe, including that of CEO, replaces David Hendler, who will retire in June.

“Philip’s financial expertise and international experience in the media, entertainment and tech sectors make him perfectly suited for the increasingly global and multifaceted nature of our business,” Lynton said of his new direct report.

“I want to thank Dave for his many years of service at SPE and for strategically managing the studio’s financial affairs through years of unprecedented change in our industry,” Lynton added of Hendler.

In addition to overseeing SPE’s financial affairs and corporate development opportunities, Rowley will oversee SPE’s information technology, facilities, procurement, security and health and safety. He starts June 20.

“I am thrilled to be joining SPE at such an exciting time and am very much looking forward to working with Michael again,” Rowley said.
