Michael Peña will follow in the steps of Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Roarke, the owner of “Fantasy Island,” in Sony Pictures’ upcoming film reboot of the classic 70s TV series.

Produced by Blumhouse and directed by Jeff Wadlow, who helmed “Truth or Dare” for the studio, “Fantasy Island” followed Roarke as he was visited by travelers to the island who pay a hefty sum to see their wildest fantasy become reality, only for such a fantasy to become a serious case of “be careful what you wish for.”

Wadlow is reuniting with “Truth or Dare” writers Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs to pen the script. Jason Blum is producing with Ryan Turek overseeing for Blumhouse, which is also co-financing the project. Wadlow and Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson are executive producers.

Peña, who most recently starred in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” will next be seen in more dramatic roles in Clint Eastwood’s “The Mule” and the fourth season of Netflix’s “Narcos” before appearing in Paramount’s live-action adaptation of “Dora the Explorer,” which is currently filming.

Peña is repped by CAA and Management 360. The deal was first reported by Deadline.
