Michelle Williams In Talks to Join Hugh Jackman’s ‘Greatest Showman on Earth’

“Blackbird” actress eyes part as female lead opposite “Wolverine” star

Michelle Williams is currently in talks to play the female lead in Hugh Jackman‘s upcoming movie, “The Greatest Showman on Earth,” TheWrap has learned.

The musical is a P.T. Barnum biopic that focuses on the founder of the well-known traveling Barnum & Bailey Circus.

“Greatest Showman” is set up at 20th Century Fox and will be directed by Michael Gracey. The Australian filmmaker is best known for his work in award-winning commercials like T-Mobile’s “Dance.”

Academy Award-winning Michael Arndt penned the script for “Greatest Showman.” His credits also include writing the screenplays for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

Justin Paul and Benj Pasek — known for their work in “A Christmas Story” and “Dear Evan Hansen” are set to produce the music.  
Williams received high recognition for her role in “Brokeback Mountain” and was nominated for an Academy Award for her part in “Blue Valentine.” She was also recently nominated for a Tony Award for the category of Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Blackbird.”

The actress would also be joining the “High School Musical” star, Zac Efron, who is also currently in talks for “The Great Showman.”
