Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel and Hamish Linklater have been cast as the leads of Netflix’s “Midnight Mass” series from “The Haunting of Hill House” team Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy, a spokesperson for the streaming service told TheWrap Wednesday.
Rounding out the cast of the upcoming supernatural thriller are Rahul Abburi, Crystal Balint, Matt Biedel, Alex Essoe, Annabeth Gish, Rahul Kohli, Kristin Lehman, Robert Longstreet, Igby Rigney, Annarah Shephard, Samantha Sloyan, Henry Thomas and Michael Trucco.
“Midnight Mass” follows “an isolated island community experiences miraculous events – and frightening omens – after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest,” per Netflix.
The series was created by “Doctor Sleep” filmmaker Flanagan, who will also direct all seven episodes of the show and executive produce alongside Macy.
Production on the show will begin in Vancouver this spring.
“Midnight Mass” was the first project Flanagan and Macy’s Intrepid Pictures banner set at Netflix after the two signed a multi-year overall deal with the streaming service last February. The producing partners are currently in production on “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” the second season of their Netflix horror anthology “The Haunting,” which began with “Hill House” in October 2018. “Bly Manor” will debut on the streaming service later this year.
