NBC has officially ordered “Midnight, Texas” to series, TheWrap has learned.
From Niels Arden Oplev, the director of USA Network’s “Mr. Robot,” and based on the hit book series from “True Blood” author Charlaine Harris, comes a journey into a remote Texas town where no one is who they seem to be.
From vampires and witches to psychics and hit men, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family.
The cast includes François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Sarah Ramos, Peter Mensah, Yul Vazquez and Sean Bridgers.
Monica Owusu-Breen will serve as writer and executive producer. David Janollari and Oplev also executive produce. “Midnight, Texas” is produced by Universal Television and David Janollari Entertainment.
This is the latest series order this week for NBC, which has greenlit several new shows. Dick Wolf‘s new drama “Chicago Justice” got an official pick up on Thursday.
The network also gave series orders to two new comedies. “Powerless,” set in the DC Comics universe and starring Vanessa Hudgens, and “Trial & Error,” starring John Lithgow and Nicholas D’Agosto. NBC also ordered a new dramady from Dan Fogelman called “This Is Us” starring Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia.
