Miramax Deal by Monday? So Finish Already!

Deal has been drafted; negotiations that have dragged on for weeks are close to an end

It’s finally, nearly, just practically … over!

I’m told by two individuals close to the negotiations that the deal for Ron Burkle and the Weinstein brothers to buy the Miramax library from The Walt Disney Company is very close to finished, and will likely be announced on Monday or Tuesday. (One source said Friday, but the others do not think that will hold.)

A new draft proposal was presented to both sides on Thursday evening after three full weeks of exclusive negotiating. The negotiation windows keep getting extended as the lawyers find more things to bicker about.

"The deal is not done. But we are very close," said one person close to the process.

I’m going to bet on Monday, but of course all this could shift with a last-minute snag. Oh come on, I’ll take a leap: Monday.
