Missy Elliott Releases First New Music Video in 7 Years, ‘WTF (Where They From)’

The hip-hop star joined Instagram Wednesday to announce the video premiere for her song featuring Pharrell Williams

Missy Elliott is back after a seven-year hiatus from releasing a new music video.

The hip-hop star joined Instagram on Wednesday to announce the premiere of her music video for “WTF (Where They From)” featuring Pharrell Williams.

“I can’t wait for the whole world to see my new video tomorrow,” she wrote alongside a screenshot from her latest offering. “9 am we bout to take off to another planet. u ready? LETSGO!”

Sure enough, the new music video was posted 9:02 a.m., and it’s killer.

Although she had a show-stopping appearance during Katy Perry‘s Super Bowl halftime show in February, she hasn’t dropped a single in three years, and it’s an even rarer occasion for her to release a music video.

Missy Elliott released her last album, “The Cookbook,” in 2005, and her last song was “Best, Best” in 2008.
