“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski compared Donald Trump’s treatment of Attorney General Jeff Sessions to the way the president used to mock Rosie O’Donnell, while discussing Trump’s Tuesday morning tweet storm.
One of his tweets read: “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!”
“Big picture, Joe. It feels like he’s treating Sessions and many others along the way in this administration like Rosie O’Donnell,” Brzezinski said on Tuesday’s show.
Co-host Joe Scarborough said Trump “doesn’t understand” that he can’t treat people the same way he did back in 2005 when he was simply a reality TV star.
Before entering the world of politics, Trump and O’Donnell famously traded insults on a regular basis. Trump even mocked her during the first GOP debate in 2015: responding to Megyn Kelly, who asked about his negative treatment of women, Trump said, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”
Over the weekend, O’Donnell tweeted a link to an online game called “Push Trump Off A Cliff Again.” The game is simple: hit the arrow for the president to walk forward until he falls off the cliff, into a volcano the mouth of a T-Rex.
Last year, O’Donnell was under fire for tweeting a video suggesting Barron Trump has autism. She later apologized to Melania Trump.
