MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts Willie Geist, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski slammed Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Wednesday and accused her of lying over the sudden firing of James Comey as FBI director.
It started when Geist asked Sanders a question about the ongoing investigation into whether or not Russia interfered with the 2016 presidential election and the Trump spokeswoman cited Scarborough himself in her answer.
“Person after person including your own Joe Scarborough has said that there is no evidence of collusion here,” Sanders said, trying to distance the White House from allegations that members of the Trump campaign might have coordinated with Russians in their efforts to influence the election.
Scarborough quickly chimed in, “Wait, wait wait, I’ve got to interrupt… I said there was no obvious evidence of collusion out there… I also said there needs to be in-depth investigations.”
Scarborough then said it would probably take an independent prosecutor to get to the bottom of any financial ties between Trump and Russia.
“I’m surprised you’re twisting my words,” Scarborough said.
“We’ve had almost an entire year…. everyone has looked into this and everybody comes to the same conclusion that there is no evidence of collusions,” Sanders said, which really seemed to annoy the panel.
“You’re actually not telling the truth right now,” Brzezinski said.
“That’s a pretty bold claim,” Sanders fired back.
