‘Morning Joe’ Says People Are ‘Scared As Hell’ Over Trump’s ‘Hateful’ Budget (Video)

Joe Scarborough says suburban Republicans are worried about Trump’s budget

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough slammed President Trump’s budget proposal on Wednesday, saying people are “scared as hell” of the 2018 budget that the president unveiled on Tuesday.

“When Trump puts out a budget that is hateful, as mean spirited as that one is, you don’t need Nancy Pelosi talking about it out front without one third of the Republican caucus in the suburban areas… I heard from a couple of them yesterday,” Scarborough said. “They’re scared as hell.”

Trump sent Congress a $4.1-trillion spending plan that proposes to eliminate the deficit in 10 years while protecting Social Security and Medicare. However, it also features severe cuts in programs for the underprivileged, including Medicaid, food stamps and disability payments.

Scarborough explained that about a third of Republicans come from suburban areas and “they are scared every single day” — and the sort of budget that Trump unveiled slashes healthcare, education and cancer funding.

“That has an impact back in their districts,” he said.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski chimed in, saying the budget is “dead on arrival.”

Scarborough has been a harsh critic of Trump in recent months and compared him to a character from “Dumb and Dumber” earlier this week. He has also mocked members of Trump’s inner circle, recently saying Vice President Mike Pence is either a “sucker” or a Liar.”
