MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough ripped the “stupidity” of the proposed health care reform on Friday, pointing to a poll that shows only 17 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s revised plan.
Trump has said that if his revised plan does not get approved, he will move on and Republicans will be stuck with Obamacare. The “Morning Joe” namesake accused President Trump of rushing the plan to get it ready for the seventh anniversary of Obamacare.
“It’s preposterous for Donald Trump to think he can just walk in, between honking 18-wheeler horns, pretending like he’s driving on the White House lawn… that’s not how Washington works,” Scarborough said, referring to Thursday’s widely mocked photo-op of Trump posing with truckers at the White House.
Scarborough said that even if the bill passes, negotiations have been suck a “wreck” that Trump “sabotaged” it for the Senate.
After playing a series of clips to suggest that Trump never wanted to work with House Speaker Paul Ryan on the bill in the first place, Scarborough said, “This was obvious.”
“This was such an obviously stupid play done by somebody, or a group of people, who didn’t know how Washington worked,” he said.
Scarborough continued: “When they decided to lead with health care, why did they decide to lead with Paul Ryan’s version of healthcare? It was completely opposite of what Donald Trump promised every day on the campaign trail.”
