MovieTickets.com has launched its own weekly online video to help moviegoers make their weekend choices, tapping comedienne, singer and YouTube star Taryn Southern as host.

Called “Movie Therapy,” the title is presumably a play off Southern’s popular YouTube series “Internet Therapy” — but instead of talking to the camera about everyday problems, the topic will be upcoming theatrical releases.

“With more than 500 million views for her videos, Taryn Southern is truly one of the stars of the internet video revolution,” Walt Borchers, executive vice president of MovieTickets.com, said in a statement. “Taryn’s charisma and dynamic presence will provide one more entertaining reason for film fans to visit MovieTickets.com.”

The company services over 260 theater chains and 22,000 screens.

MovieTickets.com’s move mirrors that of its chief rival, Fandango, which launched its own slate of original programming last year featuring former Entertainment Weekly columnist Dave Karger.
