MPRM Hires Veteran Film Publicist Alex Klenert as SVP

Former Prodigy PR exec will take over MPRM’s film practice

MPRM Communications has hired veteran publicist Alex Klenert as senior vice president to oversee the company’s film practice, the company announced Wednesday.

The Prodigy PR co-founder will join MPRM next week, reporting to Chairman Rachel McCallister and President Mark Pogachefsky. He looks to expand the company’s offerings for theatrical titles, corporate representation, digital outreach, awards campaigns and film festivals.

“We have known Alex for many years, even before he was our client at THINKFilm and are thrilled he will be joining the MPRM team,” Pogachefsky said in a statement. “His breadth of experience, which spans everything from unit publicity to awards campaigns makes him a great addition to our film team.”

Klenert got his start in PR at Donna Daniels PR and Miramax, later working as VP of Publicity at THINKFilm where he organized campaigns for films like “Half Nelson,” “Murderball,” and Sidney Lumet’s last film, “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.”

In 2010, Klenert co-founded Prodigy PR, serving as COO. During his time there, he built the publicity strategy for films like Spike Lee’s “Red Hook Summer” and “Da Sweet Blood of Jesus.” He also organized sports PR campaigns for major films like “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

“I’ve always admired the professionalism and high quality work done by MPRM and I’m excited to join their team to help increase the company’s already stellar brand,” said Klenert. “I’m very thankful to Mark and Rachel for giving me this opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
