MSNBC Moves Ed Schultz Back to Weekdays

Channel moved popular program to weekends five months ago

MSNBC just doesn't know what to do with Ed Schultz.

Nearly five months after moving Schultz's "The Ed Show" from 8 p.m. weekdays to 5 p.m. weekends to make room for "All In with Chris Hayes," MSNBC is moving "The Ed Show" back to weekdays in the 5 p.m. slot., the network announced on Monday.

"Hardball with Chris Matthews," which formerly occupied that timeslot and was rerun at 7 p.m., will now air new episodes at 7 p.m.

"Chris Matthews and the 'Hardball' team have been pulling double duty for years," MSNBC president Phil Griffin said.

"Ed Schultz is a force of nature and an important voice to the MSNBC audience.  I can’t wait to have him back on weeknights."

"The Ed Show" moves back to weekdays beginning August 26.
