MTV Movie Awards to Honor Channing Tatum With Trailblazer Award

Mila Kunis will present the actor and producer the award at MTV’s annual awards show on April 13

Actor and producer Channing Tatum will be the first male to receive the MTV Movie Awards’ Trailblazer Award.

Mila Kunis will present her “Jupiter Ascending” co-star with the honor during the awards show, which airs live on Sunday, April 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Channing Tatum is the quintessential leading man for the MTV audience,” said MTV president Stephen Friedman in a statement.

He continued, “He proves that an action hero can have both a quick wit and a large heart. Whether he’s baring his soul in ‘The Vow,’ his chest in ‘Magic Mike,’ or his humor in ’21 Jump Street,’ Channing proves that by committing everything, you can accomplish anything.”

Emma Watson and Emma Stone had previously been honored with the Trailblazer Award.

Later this year, Tatum will can be seen in sequel “22 Jump Street” and “Jupiter Ascending.” He will also star in “Foxcatcher” with Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo, as well as the animated film “The Book of Life.” He will soon begin production on the sequel to “Magic Mike.”

Hosted by Conan O’ Brien, this year’s awards presenters will include “Fault in Our Stars” actors Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort; and “The Other Woman” stars Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton.

Also, “Entourage” stars Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Dillon will present the MTV Generation Award to Mark Wahlberg, a producer on both the HBO series and its upcoming movie.

Ellie Goulding and Zedd will perform songs from the “Divergent” film soundtrack. Plus, MTV Artists To Watch Twenty One Pilots will perform their single, “Car Radio.”

The award winners are determined by fan vote at MovieAwards.MTV.com through Saturday, April 12.

This will be the second year in which MTV will hold the awards in April. Last year’s awards attracted 3.8 million viewers and averaged 4.8 million viewers, airing across Viacom’s family of networks (MTV, VH1, MTV2 and Logo). Last year’s show also saw an increase of 20 percent over the previous year in MTV’s target demographic of viewers ages 12-34.

Den of Thieves’ Jesse Ignjatovic, who just joined “American Idol” as an executive producer, will return to serve as executive producer of this year’s show. He’s joined by executive producers Garrett English, also the executive in charge for MTV, Lee Lodge, and Jen Jones.
