MTV Seeks Twitter Talent

The network is hiring their first “Twitter Jockey”

Knowing how to use Twitter can earn you $100,000 or more at MTV.

MTV and American Express'  new "charge card for young adults," ZYNC, partnered to launch a search for the network's first TJ, or "Twitter Jockey."

MTV's Twitter jockey will use the popular social networking service to engage with viewers and serve as a liaison between the audience and execs. The network compiled a list of 18 candidates for the job and will be selecting two more through open, online nominations.

According to the MTV TJ site, once 20 candidates are selected, they will duke it out in a series of "Twitter-based challenges" designed "to reveal the candidate's social talents online as well as offline." The challenges will culminate in a live "MTV Follow Me Finale" on August 8th in New York City.

Apart from the partnership with a shady venture designed to encourage teens and college students to rack up credit card debt, this promotion seems like a great way for MTV to gain a better foothold in the social media space.
