MTV Will Debut ‘This Is It’ Trailer at VMAs

Sony’s Michael Jackson concert film will get a major promotional push at the awards show.

The first trailer for the Michael Jackson concert film "This Is It" will make its U.S. debut during Sunday’s Video Music Awards on MTV.

 

Right after the trailer bows on MTV, Sony will officially launch content for the movie’s website, www.thisisit-movie.com. The trailer will also be available for streaming on MTV.com once the VMAs wrap up.

 

MTV said it will promote Sunday’s debut of the trailer with on-air promos and during MTV news segments. The VMAs have already announced plans for an extensive Jackson tribute, including a performance from Janet Jackson.

 

The "This Is It" trailer will make its theatrical debut Sept. 18 during runs of "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" "This Is It" begins a two-week engagement on Oct. 28. Advance tickets go on sale Sept. 27.

 

Sony’s Jackson picture isn’t the only feature getting some love at the VMAs. MTV will use the awards to debut an extended preview of "Twilight: New Moon" as well.
