Music, Meet Technology: Will.i.am to Close TheGrill 2011

Will.i.am, the innovative composer, performer, technologist and activist will be the closing keynote speaker at TheWrap’s conference in two weeks

I'm so excited about this news that I wanted to share it with you all:

Will.i.am, the innovative composer, performer, technologist and activist will be the closing keynote speaker at our conference in two weeks, TheGrill 2011.

Many of you know him as the founder of The Black Eyed Peas. Others among you know him as a passionate campaigner for Barack Obama during the 2008 election.

I know him as a guy with 1.37 million Twitter followers. (Recent tweet: "Im not hollywood. I like hanging with the people. Im balanced. I fly private & southwest")

Will.i.am is all that, and more. He recently produced and funded a primetime TV special, "Science is Rock and Roll," a back to school special that focused on science and kids.

Because apart from being fascinated by technology, will.i.am is once again making waves, raising the issue of Hollywood and its role in depicting science and technology. Are scientists just geeks? Or are they instead the engine of innovation in this country? And how are they portrayed on screen?

That stuff matters. He'll talk about all this, and about music and many other things (oh yeah, those seven Grammys, and what it's like to perform at the Superbowl), as the closing interview at TheGrill, Sept 19 and 20.

More info on the conference here.

If you read this site, you probably know that other amazing speakers include Arianna Huffinton, "Modern Family's" Steve Levitan, Pandora's Tim Westergren, Terry Semel, Harry Sloan and many other leading voices in entertainment and technology.

There's still time to attend, but even if you don't, you can follow all our coverage on TheWrap, naturally.
