NBC and Conan Reps Are Meeting Again

Apparently at least one more meeting is needed to finalize O’Brien’s messy divorce from the Peacock

Negotiators for both NBC U and Conan O’Brien’s camp are once again meeting to try to hammer out the final deal points in O’Brien’s divorce settlement.

Both sides met on Saturday, but apparently at least one more meeting was needed. If the last deal points can be settled, a formal announcement could be made today.

No doubt NBC’s harried PR team would just love that. Most are currently en route (or already at) the Golden Globes, which NBC is broadcasting tonight, starting at 4 p.m./7 p.m. central.

Deadline’s Mike Fleming, meanwhile, is reporting that one person who won’t be at the Globes is NBC U commander Jeff Zucker. He says Zucker scrapped plans at the last minute to attend.

Anyway, a Monday press release — more likely announcing the return of Jay Leno to "The Tonight Show" than O’Brien’s exit —  is also a possibility. If so, we’re calling dibs on an MLK-themed lead sentence:

"Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, Conan O’Brien is free at last from NBC."

Thank you. We’re here all night. Don’t forget to tip your waiters.

And yes, we’re getting punchy here at Team MoJoe.
