Meredith Ahr, who developed NBC's hit singing competition "The Voice," has been promoted to executive vice president of alternative programming of NBC Entertainment, NBC's president, alternative and late-night programming Paul Telegdy said on Monday.
Ahr, who has been with NBC for 11 years and began as a page in New York, most recently served as senior vice president, alternative programming and development, a position she assumed in June 2010.
In her new capacity, Ahr will continue to oversee NBC's alternative development, both in-house and via partnerships. Continuing to serve under Telegdy, Ahr also assumes the new responsibilities of working across NBC's existing brands and will take on the creative oversight of Universal Television's reality producers.

In announcing the partnership, Telegdy said that Ahr "couples exacting creative standards with partnership and collaborative skills in a way which pushes the department and the producers we are in business with," said Telegdy. "
Telegdy also praised Ahr's "extraordinary work ethic, leadership and contribution to the successes of our alternative programming.”
