NBC: ‘SNL’ Star Wasn’t Fired for Being Fat

Rep goes on record denying published report that Casey Wilson was “axed” for not losing 30 lbs.

A representative for "Saturday Night Live" is slamming internet rumors that claim former regular Casey Wilson was fired for being fat.

The network today officially confirmed what’s been known for more than a week now: Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate are joining "SNL" as featured players. Wilson and Michaela Watkins, meanwhile, will not be back.

Watkins has told interviewers she has no hard feelings over producer Lorne Michaels’ decision not to renew her deal. Wilson has been quiet.

But on Wednesday, E! Online reported that Michaels had "demanded" Wilson lose 30 pounds over the summer. When she didn’t lose weight, "She was axed," E! reported.

"SNL" almost never comments on personnel matters. But this rumor has apparently irked the show’s powers that be so much, spokeswoman Sharon Pannozzo went on record with TheWrap flatly denying the buzz.

"There’s absolutely no truth at all to the rumors regarding Casey Wilson," she said. "Her contract was simply not renewed."

It does seem hard to believe Michaels would fire Wilson over weight, particularly when the show has a history of using zaftig men (Belushi, Farley) and women (four words: Julia Sweeney as Pat.)
