NBC4, ABC7 and KTLA5 Top L.A.-Area Emmy Awards

NBC4 sweeps newscast categories in Los Angeles Area Emmys, but ties ABC7 and KTLA5 with seven awards

Three Los Angeles stations –ABC7, KTLA5 and NBC4 –came out on top at Saturday night's Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, with each of the three stations receiving seven awards.

The awards were held in the Television Academy's Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.

NBC4, which went into the show leading the field with 20 nominations, scored a trifecta in the newscast categories, winning for Regularly Scheduled Daily Daytime Newscast, Morning Newscast and Evening Newscast.

PictureGroupDavid Ono of ABC7 was named Outstanding Hard News Reporter, and also won in the Outstanding Writer – Programming category. Other reporters honored were Dave Malkoff of KTLA5 (Outstanding News Feature Reporting), Michael Eaves of Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket (Outstanding Sports Reporting), Paul Magers of CBS 2 (Serious News Story – Single Report) and Carolyn Costello of KTLA5 (Serious News Story – Multi-Part Report).

News programs on death of Osama Bin Laden and the British royal wedding also won Emmys.

The Los Angeles Area Governors Award was presented to veteran sports producer Susan Stratton, pictured at left with Television Academy president Bruce Rosenblum.
