Neil Patrick Harris Forgot Who Rachel Bloom Was During the Tonys – and She Didn’t Let It Slide

“We’ve met numerous times and my husband, Dan Gregor, wrote for ‘How I Met Your Mother,'” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” star tweets

While “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” star Rachel Bloom was busy interviewing performers and winners behind the curtain at the Tony Awards Sunday, Neil Patrick Harris was at home trying to figure out who she was.

Harris — who hosted Broadway’s biggest night in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 — didn’t attend this year’s show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, but kept up with the events by live-tweeting. One of these tweets got him in trouble with Bloom, as he critiqued her hosting while forgetting that they apparently know each other.

“Who is the woman in the top hat backstage at @TheTonyAwards?” Harris tweeted. “Gideon remarked that she says ‘like’ and ‘oh my god’ a lot. I’m confused…” he added, referencing his 7-year-old son.

Bloom wasn’t having any of that, firing back with a tweet that read, “I’m a big fan of yours. We’ve met numerous times and my husband, Dan Gregor, wrote for How I Met Your Mother for 5 years. Notably, he wrote the episode where your character finally meets his father.” This is Bloom’s second consecutive year interviewing winners backstage.

The awkwardness continued when Harris replied an hour later with this message: “Indeed! Well said. Thanks for the reminder. How was backstage?”

So far, Bloom has yet to respond.
