Netflix released first look photos of its upcoming series, “Marvel’s Daredevil” during New York Comic-Con on Saturday. Additionally, the panel was able to announce some new castings.
The photos include star Charlie Cox in full “Daredevil” costume, then in plain clothes and then the muse for the costume. See them below.
The costume was inspired by Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.’s seminal “Daredevil: Man Without Fear,” a series that is widely considered to be one of the most important and influential Daredevil stories of all time. The image harkens back to the original art by Romita Jr. that inspired the costume.
So, who has joined the cast? Ayelet Zurer (“Man of Steel”) will play Vanessa Marianna, Vondie Curtis Hall (“Soul Food”) will portray Ben Urich, Bob Gunton (“The Shawshank Redemption”) landed the role of Leland Owlsley and Toby Leonard Moore (“The Pacific”) will play Wesley.
The series follows the journey of Matt Murdock (Cox), who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
Marvel Television and ABC Television Studios have partnered on “Daredevil,” which is based on the iconic comic book series. Production is currently underway in New York. The series will begin streaming on Netflix next year.
