Ratings: NHL Stanley Cup Finals First Night Scores NBC Demo Win, But CBS Tops Viewers

Reality offering “The Briefcase” falls hard from debut against start of Blackhawks-Lightning game

Stanley Cup Finals

NBC’s NHL Stanley Cup Finals dropped the puck into a key 18-49 demographic win on Wednesday, though it couldn’t top CBS in total viewers per preliminary numbers.

That could change when final Nielsen ratings come out later on Thursday. Right now, the discrepancy is 335,000 total viewers.

Speaking of CBS, “The Briefcase” dropped 36 percent in ratings from last week’s debut. Fox’s “Bullseye” stayed flat from its premiere, something chiefs Dana Walden and Gary Newman will surely take.

NBC was first in ratings with a 1.8 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 5.5 million, according to early data.

Fox was second in ratings with a 1.3/5 and third in viewers with 4 million. “MasterChef” at 8 p.m. had a 1.4/6 and 4.6 million viewers. “Bullseye” at 9 got a 1.1/4 and 3.3 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 1.0/4 and fourth in viewers with 3.9 million. Following reruns, “Celebrity Wife Swap” at 10 received a 1.0/4 and 3.5 million viewers.

CBS was fourth in ratings with a 0.9/3, but first in viewers with 5.8 million. At 8, “The Briefcase” fell to a 0.9/4 and 5.4 million viewers. Repeats followed.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in viewers with 2.1 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.4 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.3/1 and in viewers with 911,000, airing all reruns.
