Another big chunk of the NHL's 2012-2013 season has been put on ice.
The National Hockey League canceled its regular-season schedule through Dec. 14, the league said Friday, as a labor dispute between the league and the NHL Players' Association drags on.

Also canceled due to the labor dispute, which has resulted in a lockout: The 2013 NHL All-Star Weekend, which was scheduled for Jan. 26-27 in Columbus, Ohio.
"The reality of losing more regular-season games as well as the 2013 NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus is extremely disappointing," NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said of the cancelations. "We feel badly for NHL fans and particularly those in Columbus, and we intend to work closely with the [Columbus] Blue Jackets organization to return the NHL All-Star events to Columbus and their fans as quickly as possible."
The new cancelations bring the number of canceled regular-season games to 422, a little more than one-third of the regular season.
A spokesman for NBC Sports, which last year entered into a 10-year deal to air NHL games, called the new round of cancelations "unfortunate."
"It’s unfortunate that the lockout is causing the cancelation of games from our schedule," the spokesman told TheWrap in a statement. "In the interim, we have a large amount of quality live-event programming, including soccer, boxing, college hockey and college basketball, that airs in place of NHL games. We look forward to presenting the NHL to its fans as soon as the labor situation is resolved.”
