Nick Cassavetes’ ‘Yellow’ Finds Home Abroad (Exclusive)

The deal-making for Nick Cassavetes' latest directorial outing began following the announcement of the full lineup for the Toronto International Film Festival

Nick Cassavetes' “Yellow,” a featured title at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, has been picked up for international distribution by the Munich-based sales and production company Atlas International Film.

ICM is handling domestic sales on the drama, which makes its world premiere at the festival next month.

With a large ensemble cast, including Sienna Miller, below left, Ray Liotta, Lucy Punch, Melanie Griffith and Gena Rowlands, the story follows a young teacher with a drug problem.

Mary Holmes looks like she has the perfect life with four children and a great job. But the pills she swallows each day fuel a hallucinatory world, filled with colorful characters including Busby Berkeley dancers, Cirque de Soleil circus freaks, and human farm animals.

Founded in 1967, Atlas is now representing an increasing number of English-language titles, under the direction of co-presidents, Philip and Stefan Menz, the sons of the company’s founder, Dieter Menz.

Atlas is also handling international sales on the adaptation of “A Good Marriage,” a short story from Stephen King’s award-winning book “Full Dark, No Stars.” Joan Allen is in negotiations for the female lead, an individual familiar with the negotiations told TheWrap. Peter Askin is reportedly directing.

Other English-language titles on the Atlas slate include “Sweetwater,” starring January Jones and Ed Harris, and “Sofia” (“Assassins Bullet”) with Christian Slater. Glenn Ackermann is in charge of program sales.

On Tuesday, the festival announced the rest of its 2012 lineup: 289 feature films and 83 shorts will show at the festival, including films from Ben Affleck, Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski, David O. Russell, Joe Wright, Paul Thomas Anderson, Spike Lee, Neil Jordan, Mira Nair, Robert Redford, Harmony Korine, Susanne Bier, Francois Ozon, Walter Salles, Sally Potter and Terrence Malick.
