Nicole Kidman is set to produce for Amazon Studios “My Lovely Wife,” based on the novel of the same name by author Samantha Downing, an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.

Amazon Studios acquired the right to Downing’s 2019 novel, which is described as a marital, psychological thriller with darkly comedic undertones that’s in the vein of “Dexter” meets “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”

The story is about a simple, suburban married couple of 15 years who over time spice up their marriage by engaging in a string of murders. But when one of the couple’s victims is discovered, the husband realizes that his wife may not be as trustworthy as he imagined.

Kidman is not eyeing to star in the film adaptation, but will would produce via her Blossom Films banner alongside her partner Per Saari.

Most recently seen as Gretchen Carlson in the Fox News drama “Bombshell,” Kidman is also coming off the HBO series “Big Little Lies” and the HBO limited series “The Undoing.” Blossom Films is currently producing “The Expatriates,” based on a book by Janice Y. K. Lee under the production house’s deal with Amazon as a limited series.

“My Lovely Wife” was published by Penguin Random House and was a nominee for Best First Novel for the 2020 Edgar Awards. The book is set to be published in a paperback version and has already been published across 23 countries.

Deadline first reported news of the deal.
