No, Donald Trump Won’t Lose His Hollywood Walk of Fame Star… But He May Want to

Reports that GOP frontrunner’s star would be removed following several incidents of vandalism are greatly exaggerated… but not entirely

The Internet was abuzz over the weekend with several blogs reporting that Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame might be removed following multiple incidences of vandalism.

But the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the iconic landmark, tells TheWrap there is no truth to the rumors… kinda.

A spokesperson for the organization told TheWrap that, “Yes, I saw the false rumors about the removal of the star.”

She also included a statement from the group’s president, Leron Gubler:

“The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark. Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”

So, that’s the good news for Trump: He gets to keep his star.

The bad news is that the reports weren’t all wrong. According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, “Lately, [Trump’s star] has been getting some attention but we are having the vandalism on the star cleaned up when it occurs.”

The spokesperson would not comment further. But if you believe Twitter, the star has become a favorite place to dump on Trump … sometimes quite literally.

And it’s not just the four-legged who have used Trump’s star as their own personal bathroom (warning: NSFW).

As TheWrap previously reported, Trump’s star was defaced with a reversed swastika in January.

The vandalism was quickly cleaned up, but not before someone posted a shot of it on Reddit. The star, which the Republican presidential candidate and “Apprentice” host received in 2007, was bright and shiny again the next morning.

The swastika is only the latest abuse of the star. Austin Franklin, an actor who spends his days patrolling Hollywood Boulevard dressed as Batman, told TheWrap that, of the Walk of Fame’s more than 2,500 stars, Trump’s was the most despised. He said he saw at least 50 tourists stomping on the star as they walked by.

Incidentally, as Batman told us the story, a group of tourists stomped on the star, just as the Dark Knight said.

“I’ve never seen this kind of hate put on a star before, not even Bill Cosby,” Franklin said, adding that “some people pretend to take a dump on it as they pose for pictures.”

And… what do you know, Batman never lies:
