Showtime has picked up “Nurse Jackie” for a seventh season, ahead of the Season 6 premiere.
The show’s fifth season averaged 3.13 million weekly viewers across platforms, up 14 percent year-over-year. Season 7 of the Showtime and Lionsgate co-production begins filming in New York later this year.
Season 6 of “Nurse Jackie” kicks off on April 13.

Edie Falco stars on the drama as Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed and brilliant — yet flawed — emergency room nurse. In the coming sixth season, Jackie returns to the struggles of her pain-killer addiction. She’s trying to deal with a real relationship (Adam Ferrara), an ex-husband (Dominic Fumusa), a daughter who is growing up way too fast (Ruby Jerins) and a sponsor who she just can’t get rid of (guest star Julie White).
The Showtime series also stars Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Anna Deavere Smith, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin, Mackenzie Aladjem and Peter Facinelli. Morris Chestnut, Laura Benanti and Michael Esper will guest star.
Clyde Phillips serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tom Straw, Richie Jackson, Liz Flahive and Caryn Mandabach also executive produce.
