Special counsel Robert Mueller subpoenaed the Trump Organization for documents, including some related to Russia, The New York Times reported Thursday.

According to the Times, the subpoena marks the first known time that Mueller has demanded documents related to President Trump’s businesses, bringing the investigation closer to the president.

The Times said that the breadth of the subpoena was “not clear.”

The paper cited two people briefed on the matter, who said the subpoena was delivered in “recent weeks” and demanded that President Donald Trump’s business hand over documents related to Russia.

Neither the Trump Organization nor the White House immediately responded to TheWrap’s requite for comment.

Trump has repeatedly denied any allegations of collusion between his team and the Kremlin. He also stepped down from the Trump Organization before he became president, leaving his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, to run his various business interests.
