Obama Tells Diane Sawyer ‘I Had a Bad Night’ at Debate (Also, the Sun Is Hot)

Despite his poor performance, Obama says that the fundamentals of his race with Mitt Romney haven't changed

At least President Obama realizes he has a problem. And recognizing you have a problem is the first step toward recovery.


Obama sat down with ABC News' Diane Sawyer for his first interview since last week's presidential debate against Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, where he came off as slightly more animated than a stuffed slug.

Obama's conclusion? "I had a bad night."

"Well, governor Romney had a good night, and I had a bad night," Obama told Sawyer.

The nation's chief executive did, however, see a bright spot in the situation.

"I think what's important is that the fundamentals of what this race is about haven't changed," Obama added. "Governor Romney went to a lot of trouble to try to hide what his positions are."
