As an action movie geared at adults, "Oldboy" will appeal to a different demographic than "Revenge of the Sith," which skews younger, and "Captain Phillips," an awards contender that boasts Tom Hanks and a true story of the rescue mission to save Americans held hostage by Somali pirates.

"Oldboy" centers on an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. Finally released, he goes on a vengeance-soaked mission to discover who ordered his punishment, and ultimately becomes ensnared in a wider conspiracy.

Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson costar in the film.
